Shapes and Sizes!

Kids come in all shapes and sizes. Even if they are the same age, kids can vary in height, weight, and body type. They grow at different times and some grow faster than others. They can be tall, short, large, or small. Some kids feel badly when they are different from their friends or family members. Parents can help children feel better about themselves by talking with them about body image and self-esteem.

Here are some ideas on how to support and praise your child:

  • Listen to your child's ideas, hopes and dreams. Talk with your child about different topics including body image and believing in themselves.
  • Get involved in your child's life. Volunteer to help with their school or sports team.
  • Know your child's friends and their parents. Make an effort to meet other parents.
  • Focus on a healthy lifestyle for the whole family. Plan our weekly family times.
  • If you have any questions talk to your child's doctor.
