Color Your Plate!

Make mealtime fun by placing colorful foods on your child's plate! Eating different colors of fruits and vegetables help keep the body healthy. Eating 5 to 9 servings of colorful fruit and vegetables each day can be fun.

Try these ideas:

  • Start the day with fresh fruit, such as an apple or a banana.
  • Use the rainbow as a guide. Have your child match a color of the rainbow with the fruit or vegetable they like to eat.
  • Add a small bag of cut up vegetables to your child's lunch. Make them easy to grab and eat for lunch or snack. Celery or carrots are good ideas.
  • Give your child some frozen grapes or blueberries.
  • Have your child help plan and prepare meals
  • Let your child pick some fruits and vegetables at the store that thy would like to try.
  • Make a shipping list before going to the store.
  • Add in a serving of fruit by making a fruit smoothie or homemade salsa.
